I'm enjoying my active Wharfedale Diamond 8.2 monitors.
Active crossovers and bi-amping is great for the money, plus they have
a very useful bass roll-off switch.
The 8.1s are also good - especially for smaller rooms. M-Audio also do

Boxing day... I couldn't resist ... Got a good deal on the Logitech

instead of what the Logitech came with. Primary application is for MP3

Here is a slightly different spin... your comments or alternatives
appreciated.
I have a pair of underutilized PSB Alpha bookshelf speakers so the need
is for a self contained 2.1 amp and sub to work with the SB3 or iPod,
laptop, etc.
My interest is gravitating towards the Logitech Z-2300
Blue Sky Audio MediaDesk.
Intended for mixing. A little pricey, but very accurate sound.

The Aegos have a WAF that is off the charts. They're extremely easy to
integrate into almost any decor (or hide completely). Great sound for
the price. I've got 3 sets of them and they work beautifully with the
SB3. Excellent computer speakers, too.

Thanks for everyones help in this thread.
I bought a set of Aego M (black) and am very pleased.
The main unit sits under a table so is fairly well hidden.
And the satellite speakers are mounted neatly on a wall joint, with a
set of the strangest brackets I've ever seen :-)
Many thanks again,
Before I bought a new quad receiver I used a set of Logitech speakers
with a subwoofer. They plug into the Squeezebox like headphones, and
sounded quite good.
Of course the new Sony receiver connected with an optical cable sounds
better...but not that much better, at least to my

The black version might be OK :-)

AE really have got their act together in terms of value for money.
Best price I have seen is here - £90 incl. UK delivery.

I went for the Edirol MA-15D's about a year ago. Both my kids have them
in their rooms but as a composer of music for computer games I am quite
picky with monitors and these are so good for the price. Also they have
a dedicated optical input.
I bought Edirol MA10D and MA15D for Squeezebox demo's and other things
and they are excellent speakers.
The Acoustic Energy AEGO's are also impressive, especially for the
price and excellent build quality, I installed a set of the older AEGO
2's for a client and found them very capable.

Optical input you say? (I notice it has coaxial too). Have you

how do the DACs compare?

This would be good to know for me as well - I'm 2 hours away (London).
Note that Edirol is owned by Roland. I'm guessing music stores may
stock them or

Just an idea: why not get a Sonic T-amp and some decent speakers? The
T-amp will run you about $45 (including a power supply) and is tiny.
Then you can use whatever speakers you want. I have a SB3 hooked to a

Good info - now that I took a bit more time to search the forums, I
found this to be an oft covered topic. Sorry for any redundant posts.
I really am looking for specific feedback about the Bose unit, however.
If anyone has any experience with it, I'm interested in hearing from
you.
Otherwise,
Powered speakers would work, or an executive (=ostensibly high-WAF)
