Fantastic, my Nokia N91 has now another string to its bow. I can listen
via headphones wherever I am in the house. The *free* streaming media
client is a bit bare bones but the audio quality is superb.
Thanks for the heads-up on this one

Thanks for the link, I'll try this when I get home.
Just so I have this straight :
Open the stream at http://myip:9000/stream.mp3
open N800 skin and select NokiaIp, then play songs.
Might be that I wasn't driving the N800 skin to the right output.

Well, I found a tip that suggested turning off all server password
security (not ideal) but it works just fine now using an n800 and media
streamer as the app. the sound quality is fantastic actually as a
subjective take. wonder what type of DAC nokia included in this thing.
thanks to ben for

I was just following up with you guys to see if you found a solution to
your problem. I picked up an n800 but i am unable to play a stream
with the media player. it's pointing to the right ip, etc. stream.mp3
but it either freezes or says it's unable to connect to the address. i

We're Only In It
Dear All,
Whilst the flood waters have been all around for the last week, I had
more time at home than planned, and plenty of time to fiddle with
gadgets :-)
I don't have a SB3 for my garden (well it would have to be super
waterproof) but I wanted to stream.mp3 via a handheld device. Easy ...
Everytime I opened up http://localhost:9000/stream.mp3 using a web
browser, I had the option to save or open, but all I ended up doing was
trying to save the entire stream to disk, and not play it back.
First you'll need to open it in a media player. Second make sure you don't
use localhost,
To clarify, I used my actaul IP address of the server, just wrote
Localhost rather than XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX!
I tried to open the stream in N800 using the exact text in you rreply,
but nothing happens. I even added the username/password switch but
still nothing.
Confused.

I have a Nokia E61...and I can stream music from my SlimServer.
What you need for it to work those is some extra software to handle
media streaming - I couldn't get it to work with any of the apps that
came with phone. However, those clever people at Nokia labs have
written a couple of apps to
