Got a new USB stick and made a live version of Mint 22 Cinnamon which
allowed me to get into the laptop. Recovered the last copy of Timeshift
which was the day before! All now OK and sending this from LT.
LT would not boot from the USB stick until I got into the UEFI boot up

As you know I was having trouble with getting a microphone working on
the laptop. Initially no in/out audio but I managed to fix receiving
sound but could not get audio output (mic). Tried both the external

Interesting evening as we had to move out of 'the snug' due to a darts
team needing the dart board which could not be moved from the snug.
Instead we commandeered the bay window area.
