While were at it we need to have new dials available for the R-4B,

Does not look all that hard to do...
If we all pitch in to do the master??
Put me down for 4.

Does not surprise me...is it a supply that has had a full update
(Heathkit shop or other)??
If not I would do that right now. Everything in there is getting old.

A short in the B+ line within the T-4X will open the resistors. It used to
happen a lot when people would change the blue filter in S meter of TR-4’s and
pinch the wires reassembling the metal cover on the S meter. Look for a short
in your T-4X.

My T-4X quit working today, the 250V supply was gone. Filament, bias, and 650V

I think most folks have indicated that it is normal to see power lower in CW
than in TUNE. But only 60 watts kind of sound like you might have a single

minor issues.

Hi Bob:
Before jumping right to looking for a flaky component, have you done the
requisite re-seating of the board? Deoxit on the edge connector, and
relay cleaning?

I have a T4XC and in normal SSB the Gain control is around 9 O'Clock for
correct modulation. When I'm on CW for full power which is around 125 watts the
gain is about 3 O'Clock. Settings will change the higher in Frequency.

Normal. The GAIN control is two separate potentiometers, and they operate in entirely different
ways. In TUNE it's an AF GAIN control, in CW it's a bias control to unbalance the Balanced Modulator.

The 160M 'Mod' consists of a couple of extra capacitors to stretch the 160M band down to 1800 kHz
rather than the stock 1840 kHz.
The 'factory applied decal' is an accessory supplied with the FS-4 'Crystal Eliminator' to show the
General Coverage bands and is stuck on by the owner!

Please do not quote me but if memory serves me correctly the HC-6 and the FT243

Does anyone have the "scoop" on this 160 mod on eBay? Yes, inside there are 4

but what could be the "mod" ?
