With the help of Dieter, DL5RDO and the rest of the group, I successfully removed the shorting LOAD capacitor, although it did not just “slip” out! I did have to remove the pwb coil support above the cap by removing the two screws from the left wall of the unit that hold the coil support solid.

I have a Drake 7077 mic that is in good working condition and its physical appearance is normal except for the yellowed PTT/Lock keys and the ring around the mic head. Is there any way I can get the plastic back to its original color (I assume it was white)? Or just leave it alone? Thanks! Rog

The short is noticeable with power obviously (I hear the arc and see a substantial drop in power), but w/o power also. You can here the plates rubbing over the small arc of turning. Once I noticed the arc under power, I have never powered it up again. I can hear the short easily. I have not iden
