You should take a look at at your /webapps/jspui/submit, take a look at
edit-metadata.jsp
Edited JSPs are deployed automatically so no need to run maven or ant.

Heads up,
Just changing the option '-Dbasedir' for '-Ddspace.dir' then build.xml gets
it right and does it's things.

I have the same case, I want all new users registered to automatically go
to group 'Registered', I set my authentication.cfg
plugin.sequence.org.dspace.authenticate.AuthenticationMethod = \
