Hello All,
I have just installed Dspace in UBUNTU 10.04.
The Server runs fine. The only problem i get is "I cannot register users. It
looks like the system cannot communicate with the mail server". Off course, i
configured well "dspace.cfg" files.

I'll look at this a bit more tomorrow, but I have looked at these files. What
is surprising is how commenting out the code in administrative.js doesn't
change the behavior at all.

You could take the approach you described to submit an item to DSpace
from another webapp.
You could also use the DSpace SWORD server to submit an Item and its
metadata in a zip package using the SWORD protocol:

You just need to add new entries to server.xml config file, using
different names for each webapp. Here's an extract of our server.xml (we
are running 4 instances of dspace on same server):

You can check the tables I.e item*, metadata*, bitstream*

I have 2 scenarios, I need to do a mass change for a collection with DB ID 12
(collection_id=12) while another mass change for a community with DB ID 3
(community_id=3).
