Ok just found out that in english that column is Average not Total.

And it is negative because the time_filter value is negative. This average
is calculated in the method
org.dspace.statistics.content.StatisticsDataWorkflow.createDataset(Context)

I was indulged by the user today as to what the negative Total column in
the workflow statistics page mean. I have no idea, I'm even trying to look
at the code but so far no luck.
