Given Motorola's recent acquiring an 80% interest in Yaesu, that is doubtful. Additionally, one of the big let downs of Dayton 2007 was the statement by both Kenwood and Yaesu that they would not be making anything for D-Star, at least for sale here in the US. Who knows, this year might see a cha

Wow, the FCC actually got it right for a change! This petition was ill conceived from the start. Ironically, while intended (I assume) to further the digital movement, it has somewhat given it a black eye. The idea that digital and analog do not co-exist well is an outright misstatement. We are

Buddy, Not sure how D-Star is being implemented in your area, so it's hard to comment on your specific case. However, as to band openings and Tropo, that is going to get complaints whether the signal is analog or digital. One thing analog systems really need to do, which in this day and age ther

Tropo is a real problem here in Florida and tone encoding/decoding is not going to solve it. The signal is still there interfering with any transmited signal. Just lissen to 146.97 ( Largo ) when the band is open and you can hear at least 2 others under it squealing away. My machine ( back in th

I guess I rest my case here. 1.) If the propagation/Tropo is that bad, no reasonable co-channel spacing is going to solve the problem. 2.) As I noted, CTCSS and/or DCS will not cure true interference. It will however, keep the unwanted signal from activating the repeater regardless of how strong
