There are multiple versions of the drivers for the OPC-478 cable. I do not know
which version of the drivers you have. You may wish to contact Icom tech
support directly by phone and they should provide you with help getting the

I think you've run into the reason most cables sold for radio
programming are still Serial. Yes most computers don't come with
Serial ports anymore, but USB to Serial seems to be a very black art
both for the programmer and hardware vendor.

You can't use the USB interface on your Garmin GPS, the ID-800 requires a
serial interface.
Some Garmin GPS units also provide a serial interface, but not all. The
connector varies but typically it's a 4-pin cable either round with 4 pins or
flat with 4 spring contacts.

USB-B is the regular 5 pin flat connector.
What you are probably looking for is a Male USB- A to Female USB-B.
Now, your question is rather obscure in the sense that you want to
