At the end of last week, GB7MH, currently awaiting installation at our repeater site, was connected to the live Icom G2 Trust Network. The repeater uses my Linux-based G2 compatible code, Robin Cutshaw's DPlus code (unmodified) and Pete Loveall's D-Star Monitor code (unmodified). The repeater i

I just tried it with 92AD and it did not have a problem (and I was using the stock antenna and on high power, using vfo A at 146.200). I even tried inside a metal file cabinet with only the display peeking through a crack and no problems there either. Maybe those on this reflector can try it for

Sounds like 146.200 is a multiple of an oscillator frequency in the display driver chipset or similar... the "modification" probably reworks the display to move the oscillator frequency of the CPU out of the ham (and maybe nearby commercial) bands? Just a guess... but sounds plausible to me, having

If you're in the coverage of a javaARPSd equipped Gateway, the 800's D-PRS functionality will get your location to the Gateway and out to the Net. Folks with 2820's and more "advanced" rigs say they see my GPS data just fine. Not sure if the "advanced D-PRS" features of the 880 are any great shak

The 880 also has a bigger display area/number of characters on the screen at once which is a "nice to have" but not really necessary feature. The info that the 800 supposedly "doesn't have" one-touch callsign programming is incorrect... pressing and holding down the middle soft button below the s

Hi, I forgot about the GPS feature. The data format makes it very easy to use D-APRS (the DSTAR version of APRS). I just hooked up a serial GPS, configured it, and off it went. Now, every time I transmit, the data goes out with it. You can see the results here: http://www.jfindu.net/router.
