This was the most helpful reply received. Starting digging into GPS-A...figured out that if I have my "symbol" in the radio set to "Other" -- "Other" becomes nothing and you miss a character. So, set your "symbol" to anything OTHER than "Other" and it will be fine. "I can hear me now". :-)
