Before we have the Icom D-Star repeater, we used to talk DV on our UHF
repeater. Works just like FM, we can't see any difference in performance. If
the audio from repeater receiver is from discriminator (no de-emphasis) and
is feed to the transmitter modulator (no pre-emphasis), everything pass
Hello!
After a while using D-Star and discussing the audio quality of each specific
radio in our repeaters, we realize the following:

John,
What a coincidence! I talked exactly about this subject with Ray Novak from
Icom in 2006 here in Brazil. The radio amateur should have access to an open
language to deal with the radio interface and the radios will never more be

reason, all connections requests are getting Remote System is Currently Busy.
Looks that we are not receiving incoming connections too, since nobody called
anymore. Our Internet connection looks ok, I
I did all the tests of our gateway (PY2KCA) in my place with a 6MB DWN/1MB UP
cable Internet connection. Everything worked fine. We only have the VHF module
installed, since we want to install more D-Star repeaters and, for economical
reasons, no extra modules will be installed in near future.
