If you solve the gray-screen issue but have CD-ROM issues, here's what I'd do: Get a floppy with minimal 7.6 on it. Copy that to the hard drive so it'll boot from that. Then copy the network/AppleTalk extensions to the hard drive with floppies. After you have the networking established, jus

Does the sleep LED blink ? If you dont even get the screen to power on, you may have the dreadedGLOD. The sleep LED blinks. And I've hooked up an external monitor to the PB, and it turns out not to be wiped at all (I only had the GF's word that it had been wiped, actually it's fully loaded

If the screen never lights up it may be a GLOD or a screen issue. The external monitor is a good idea. Seems pretty obvious @ this point that it's a screen issue. In fact, occasionally the screen will blink like it's _trying_ to display -- seems almost more like a loose connection than anything

You need a floppy drive, a Network Boot Disk, a PCMCIA ethernet adapter (non card bus to be on the safe side). When I wanted to do this, I bought a SCSI external hard disk and appropriate cable off eBay for not very much money. I asked the vendor to install an OS9 system folder and a copy of th
