I have both a 280c and a 2300c and I use the 2300c much more than the 280c, but only because it will run some programs that I need to use that will only run on a PPC. The 280c is actually faster running the programs it will run, so if you don't need the PPC feature, I would recommend not wasting th

If all your software is 68k, then you'd be better off sticking with the 280c board. In general finder ops (scrolling, window operations, etc), the 280c is quite a lot faster. The only main thing is they'd both be slow at web surfing, but the 2300 board would be slow running the latest IE5 while

I second this one. I have a couple of 280cs and a 2300c and I use my 280s far more than my 2300. Especially since I got 7.1 running on my 280c :) It just flies, and even with Open Transport, the Appearance stuff, and other addons it still only uses 2.8 megs of RAM with the modem turned off (3.3

Don't do it. 280s are snappier than 2300s, even with both running 8.1 (equal RAM). If you need to use PPC software though. I've got a 2300c for sale. You need the motherboard and the metal frame which is the heatsink. I think you can use the 280 screen though, and the trackball will work to

Adding the Memory is easy. Just stop by your local hardware store (and WalMart sells an excellent precision screwdriver set with one) and pick up a T8 Torx driver. Then, turn the duo over, and unscrew the three screws that are towards the back if you have the battery facing you. Turn it over,

Usually in a case like this, since the drive is new (to the machine) and will be formatted anyway, I would just try both. Install 8.1 and run a few tests. Then format again and install 8.6 and run the same tests. The tests should include a lot of "how does it feel" tests because you may find that
