I do not have the system available at all, when last I started from an external dvd, (12.10) the main screen remained blank, no further acces exisited, thus no way of providing any more info. Please note that in earlier posts I indicated that I tried different monitors, all to no avail as well.

@Dave Gilbert, for me the keys leaked into a terminal (terminator) window which was the window which had focus. I don't know how it got the state. I could have locked it manually, it could have come out of suspend, or it could have suspended / locked itself. -- You received this bug
