Good Evening,
Oregon weather has turned normal again. Cold, grey, and gloomy :) But
the bands were good the last time I checked and the stove is stoked with
wood. I think tomorrow would be a good day to have a net. If the coronal
mass ejection is kind 20 meters will work and 40 meters wi
I'm selling my K2, s/n 3155, along with an unbuilt KPA100 kit. K2 s/n 3155
is stock (no mods), and has the following options installed: KNB2, KAF2,
KSB2 & K160M.
I purchased this K2 along with the KPA100 kit in Dec. of 2002, and
built it in early 2003.This K2 was built with the K2 toroid kit from

VCO 6 V Alignment.
This is a page that I think everyone who is even contemplating building
one of these radios, should read first. They will have no doubt that it
is a great rig to build and use. I have the K2, K1 and the KX1. I only
built the KX1, but found it a wonderful experience. I take the KX1 with

I would like to take this opportunity to thank EACH of you who responded to
my query concerning ideas for successfully building a new K2/100. There
were many responses so I am thanking all of you at the same time. I took
various suggestions from everyone, made a list of items needed and ordere
I am still not back at work full time and would like to offer to anyone free
kit building.
I hope to not have the time to take on something like a K2, but any
mono-banders, K1, KX-1, or something like that would be great. I would hope
to offer this to those that may be electronically, physically c
Elecrafters,
I am so impressed with the K2 again. The 160 meter contest is running full
swing last night and I could S&P with a tight filter in and just comb the bands
for station. Worked like a charm. The KAT-100 does a fantastic job on the

Just finished installing the SSBCAPKT MOD this AM. Took less than two hours
including alignment, and I don't have a Hako! Well worth the time and the
few dollars it cost. The SSB is much easier to listen to, yet doesn't sound
like the "HiFi'ers."

Radio is K2 No. 2005 w/ all options and latest firmware updates.
Attached is the remote K2/100 with the KAT100. I did in the past have
erratic behavior from the KAT100 until I installed the shield mod kit.
That seemed to clear up the problem until recently. Now the gremlin

Hello Elecrafters,
"My, what good ears you have" I say to my K2!!
This has been a fun contest so far. Noise levels extremely low as presented

Paper and pencil logging, gasp! many are saying!! Works.
Taking time out during the day to shop with the xyl and put t
Thanks Fred for this is a marvelous idea on toroid winding. It will also be of
great assistance to someone like myself with limited dexterity in my left hand
as it sounds like this method will work quite nicely. This will be filed away
for future reference. Thanks.

I sort kit parts completely differently.
I group parts, and tape one lead, bunches of capacitors of the same value all
together, I scotch tape them to a piece of paper. Then I write the value and
the part numbers on the piece of paper next to them. I put the same type of
part on the same pa
I seem to remember an article on a neat little PIC project, a USB to

converter. I know there are a bunch out there for around $30 but I like to
tinker, OK? Anyone remember that one? I think it was in QST.
