appropriate circuit values on the KSB2.
As per KD2BD mod, changed C34 from 2.2uF to 0.47uF moved LF -3dB response from

I found a birdie at 28.000 (QRP K2 #3401), but that's too close to the
band edge to worry about. None at 28.020. I'm guessing my birdie is a
harmonic of the 4.00 MHz oscillator. Is it possible your tuning is off

Can you tell if it is coming in from outside, or generated internally?

Hi
Just this week had an experience that confirms your findings.
Had a bad street lamp outside creating 30db over S9 noise across all bands.
The K2 was basically useless, with either combination of NB1 or NB2, Hi
or Lo threshold. Couldn't copy anything but noise.
Turned on my Kenwood TS940s and
G3RXQ, Stewart, apparently has the same problem with his KAT100 that I have.
I have just learned that the erratic display on 30 meters is to be ignored.
The tuner works fine and gets the SWR down to 1:1 on all bands. And yes,
my tuner is well grounded. I have just learned to live with th

about 010800UTC when he went into a deep QSB null, but popped up again
for short periods during the next half-hour.
During the KPH 'night of nights' last year I also copied them on 426.

Yeah, it's sad how quiet 600 meters is. Here in North America it's largely
destined to become a mass of correction beacons for GPS, providing short
range signals

Hi Tom!
I confirm your birdie on 28020.
I have a birdie at 28019,27 cw and cwr falling slightly during warmup.
Since I know that you have a K2/100 and none of the others that answered you
I can confirm that the birdie is from KPA100.
If you turn power down to 10watts or less the birdie goes away
No birdy on 28.020 here.

Hi to All
I also have a birdie around 28000 and it does not come from the outside.
Switching to antenna 2 changes nothing. I believe it's a harmonic of 4 MHz.

True, you can (or could) still hear CW on the maritime bands since not all
countries switched over at the same time. The change actually started years
ago. There were a number of large ships sailing without Radio Officers in
the early 90's during Gulf War I (the last time I worked on shipboard

Hi all,
I also have the birdie at 28018.46. It definatally comes from the KAT100

Definitely internal. I'm going to try to tweak the crystal osc in the
KPA-100. The procedure called for setting it above 4.000 but I may drop it
down to 3.999 and keep it below 28.000.
I suspect that will take care of the problem.

For what it's worth, with just one button press, my KNB2 will blank out
some pretty ugly pulse noise where I live that the blanker in my Ten-Tec

opinion.
