Since Wayne and Eric are always looking for ideas from the peanut
gallery, here's my first K2 firmware suggestion.
When DXing and operating split (VFO A tuned to the DX station, VFO B on
the QSX frequency), it would be nice to be able to use a narrow filter on
VFO A while using a wider filter on V
It's time for me to re-read the K2 manual. I was recently wondering why
my primary and receive antennas sounded so different when switching
between them (K160RX is installed) and feared a 160m module or KNB2

Great approach--simple things can work well. I'd like to suggest an
enhancement that would improve it, particularly on the higher bands:
feeding it with balanced line (preferably open wire feedline, but
ladder line is almost as good, and even TV twinlead isn't bad). The

a) get a BNC-female/PL-259 adapter (278-121) attached to an inline

better to hook up a piece of coax with just the BNC connector to reduce
the weight on the rig.

The BNC to RCA converter is starting to sound like a great idea.

You can get them almost anywhere, including RS, as they're also used on
the old 10base-2 network cabling.
I use crimp versions here as it's a pain to make up the soldered

Hi all
I have just been playing with a nice and simple antenna that seems to work

Elecraft doesn't carry them. With a K1 on the way, I'll be needing some

With normal component values, and 7.8 V on 8A, you will get 3.72 V max at

you shouldn't get more than 3.82 V at U2B pin 5 with RF gain set full

The UnPCBs must have been a real letdown for you then :-)

Since you've got the K60XV in there, how about building a transverter

When I'm done my K2, if I'm still afflicted by the Elecraft bug, I'll
probably be looking at the 6M transverter.
