I agree on the observation of the NR.
Up till now I have not been able to find a setting that gives me a real
improvement. The NB is very good, but I find the NR disappointing. Any
advice from list members is appriciated, or is the solution in improving
the NR algorithms?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has been disappointed in the "sound" of
the K3. Coming from a Yaesu FT990 with a Heil Clear Speech speaker, the
sound was smoother and less fatiguing. Moving the shift to a value of FC=

Guys great addition, thank you. Anyone else notice a large increase in audio
output with this latest version of firmware? I find it to be the case and
welcome it. The heil headset I use takes more drive then the other
headphones.
Elecraft, thanks!

I agree with Paul.
While this is a real improvement, I would like to hear the DX station in
both ears and the pile up in the right ear. Hope this is in the works if
possible, and if not, then let us know.
What a great radio!

John,
You are apparently building from the new manual and that can cause some
discrepancy in the parts.
You should have the BFOMDKT in your assortment of kits, and there
*should* be a rubber stem bumper in that package. If not, do you have

Hello all.
I'm still playing with my K2 that was first purchased in 1999 and never
assembled. I'm trying to put it together with the noise blanker option and the

Still looking to buy a late serial number K3, the more options the

G'day,
I have been trying to perform the Sub-RX S-meter calibration and find that
following the procedure in the owners manual (D1 p50) doesn't work, at
least for me. There is no way I can display the Sub-RX S-meter reading
and enter the Config menu options required to calibrate the Sub-RX. T
I really like the CONFIG: SUB AF BALANCE. I could not find CONFIG: DIGOUT 0 in
the Config menu. Does it show up when the ACC socket is used with an XVTR?

To elaborate, operating on 40M produces Hi Cur with power set above 8W.
Operating on 20M does not produce Hi Cur even with power set to 15W.
Setting AGC to FAST on 40M allows power to 15W without Hi Cur alarm. ???

Paul,
Check your errata sheet for the explanation.
Use method 2 until the time method 3 is implemented in the firmware.
Keep checking the firmware release notes to see when it has been added.

This is an excellent feature improvement.
Assuming its possible in the hardware, I still like the concept of dual L/R

This may be related to your problem, or possibly not. Is sounds like the
transverter is not communicating properly with the K3.
The XV series transverters use a very high value of pull up resistor on the
key lines. The K3 line is an open drain FET - or perhaps a logic line, in
any case it has no
