Hello Richard,
In terms of lessen operation fatigue, KDSP2 is good. Compared with modern DSP
rigs, the noise reduction is just basic though workable. For the amount spent
for KDSP2, in my opinion, I don't think it is not value for money because I
need it good in both CW and SSB.
I once inst
Thank you. I've sent your problem report off to the fldigi development

I suspect there are different opinions, but mine is that it
definitely improves performance. I was amazed at the effectiveness
of the noise reduction, for example.

Your opinion is valued.
I recently completed my K2. And was thinking of adding DSP.
As a CW op only, would the KDSP2 be a good addition?

Charles,
There's a setting in the menu to remember the NB settings.
Switch that on and the problem is solved.

Ed,
Check the soldering for the headers that connect the DSP module to the
board. If there was a marginal solder connection, removing and
re-inserting the module may have made it non-functional.
Did you use good anti-static measures when the DSP module was removed,
stored while it was out of
Hideki,
With power off, check the resistance from the source of Q9 to ground.
If you can check from the lead of Q9 rather than the solder connection.
If it is not zero ohms, you have a soldering problem there.
If the source of Q9 is well grounded, next check the voltage at the Q9
gate during
Battery reads good... 6.2vdc. My DVM may not be dead on but it reads very
close.
Disconnecting and reinserting the battery only resets the clock as I recall.
When I substitute my KAF2 I have audio... only the KDSP2 itself is
malfunctioning.

I removed the KAT3 and reinstalled the KANT3. SWR now normal.

The problem seems to be that I am using the Virtual Serial Port Emulator

Unless E-MU has updated their Mac OS X drivers recently, you can use

If the Mac is one of the reasonably recent Core (2) Duo models, it should be

Yes, of course. And verified the dummy load was working correctly with
an MFJ 259.

Karl,
You can but performance will suffer.
You'll more than likely be limited to 48 or 96Khz of display.
The USB E-MU 0202 will do much better if your laptop has the horse power
to run it.

I have noticed some strange behavior in the K3 regarding the noise
blanker (NB) and the sub receiver. If I have the sub receiver turned
off and am listening to the main receiver with the noise blanker turned
on, then enable the sub receiver, the noise blanker is turned off in the
main receiver

Thanks for the sugestions Duane, but the mods have nothing to do with the DSP
unit... that's why it is perplexing to me. After the connectors are cleaned
there is no change and even with the mods out of circuit the issue persists.
BTW... all the present mods do is to light LEDs to indicate s
Julian,
which OS do you use? I'm using fldigi-3.12.3 under Linux (Gentoo,
compiled from the sources) and it works fine. But I'm using the hamlib
functions to control the transceiver and not RigCat...

Hi Ed,
The manual indicates that the LED will come on if an unrecognized
command is issued by the controler chip.
Did the modification change anything on the connector J3?
In off-chance, disconnect the two PCBs, clean the connectors and
re-assemble?
Just some off-the cuff thoughts.

I have received a couple of direct replies - thanks for the insight.
I did leave out a couple details about the problem. I did not notice it
until after I installed the KAT2.
But also, I had never really used headphones for more than a minute or two
until the day I started hearing this. I pref
Has anyone managed to get Fldigi for Windows version 3.12.3 working with
their K3? The last version that worked was 3.11.5.
The new version just hangs, never appears on screen, and has to be
terminated. If I clear the configuration folder it will start, but hangs
when pointed at the K3.xml file.
Somebody has asked the same before. But nothing has been replied.
Now I have the same problem.

The width setting doesn't affect it here either as it turns out. What does
affect it however is which roofing filter I use which in turn incidentally
is switched by using the width control.
