Hi Elecrafters,
my new K3 #4739 is ready and works fine. Only one problem is the band switch.
Switching the bands up by pressing the right side of the bandswitch works very
well. But for switching the bands down you need a lot of pressure, so much that
the K3 moves backwards on the table. Any so

Hi
When I run the P3 for an extended period of time of 10 to 15 minutes, it seems
that the Peak hold blue/cyan trace resets or freezes.
The peak hold trace goes flatline well above the highest signal peak after a
long run. Is this normal behavior ? The peak hold trace might have a buffer

Or enable the filter and measure the bandwidth in DATA A. DATA A
will center the filter at 1500 Hz and you can make the DSP bandwidth
up to 4 KHz.

That is all it is. A virus in the email program sends a message to all in
the address book. This is why some ISP's or internet web services only
allow a limited # of emails to be sent at once.

Turn off the utility program. Un plug the power from the P3, disconnect the
RS232 cable from the P3 and place it in the K3 directly. If that doesn't work,
go to your Device manager in the control pannel. Open ports, and reconfigure
the Com Port your using to run at 38.4K baud rate.. That WIL

Make sure you're not trying to measure the 400 filter offsets with the DSP
set to 400. To measure the filter offset correctly, first define the filter
"too wide" in the K3 utility. Eg define the 400 filter as if it were 1.4.

Mark,
Do you have anything connected to the K3 ACC connector? If so, remove
it and see if the behavior goes away.
If I recall, attempting to use a video monitor cable in the ACC jack
will cause that. There are several pins shorted together in a video
monitor cable.

Don't worry Guy, it's *definitely* a scam, a very common one at that with

I'm just setting up a new K3 (4657), and the 400 Hz 8-pole CW filter
(KFL3A-400) seems to have a significant offset. The 6 dB audio bandwidth (AGC
off, internal dBV meter) was 236 Hz, and the center about 100 Hz below the
sidetone/CWT. Setting the offset for that filter to -0.13 put the center

Will,
C6 is part of the tuned bandpass circuit, so the values are not
flexible. Request a real 1500 pF capacitor from pa...@elecraft.com.
Do look carefully at all the larger parts of the kit, often those small
capacitors get stuck on other larger components and hide themselves
quite well.
I'm building the KNB2 (Rev ER) module and instead of a 1500pF ("152") capacitor
for C6 the kit included a 1000pF ("102") capacitor. This is a small capacitor,
not like the larger "102"s for C9, C11, and C13. Is the 1000pF cap an
acceptable substitute for the 1500pF cap at C6 or is this a packing
