According the TRLog manual its not able to do speeds between 4800 and

This has been discussed many times before, Ron, and I believe there was a
warning that the use of heavier knobs could render the Elecraft warranty nul
and void. In the UK we tend to require smaller knobs, but maybe that's
because we have smaller fingers ;-)

I wonder if anyone has studied the long-term effects on the encoder bushings

- no ball or roller bearing races - so all of the wear is on the lower side

Just guessing here, some elucidation on why you want to remote would be
helpful.
There are some number of reasons to run the KPA and KAT (near where the
coax comes into the house?) in the basement. One is not having a long
ground attached to the amplifier, putting RF on a lot more of the house.
Has anyone experienced this? After years of faithful service the ATU Tune

For just getting rid of key clicks, set your NB to t1-7 with IF OFF. This
was the prior best method for clicks before 4.51, but 4.51 has improved it,
and t2-7 is not needed except for really bad key clicks. t1-7 appears to
be good for 5 S units of suppression in 4.51.

WHY? Set your knobs for very little or no drag at all. Why replace them
with non-standard knobs so you can spin them? Mine spin very well when
needed. I turn my knobs with one finger riding on the outside edge of the
knob and tuning does not place virtually any pressure on the knob at all.
Yes, set the CW decode THRESHOLD to a setting of 3, and the speed from
30-90 wpm and the CWT should work just fine.
I have the AGC threshold set to 14, and SLP to 3 but don't think that does
much at such a low setting.

John,
RS232 has a reliability issue past 50'. I have seen it work up to 60'
with DDS circuits using CAT5 as the conductor and RJ45-to-DB9 / DB25
connectors. After that, all bets are off.
BTW, this is not anecdotal, this is my experience in the real world.
