One of the guidelines back then was - avoid making any changes to that

You are in for a bit of Transmit Signal Tracing to localize the problem
further.
Yes, it is likely to be on the Filter board, but there are 4 main parts
of the filter board.
1) The crystal oscillator
2) The Pre Mixer bandpass filter
3) The RF Bandpass Filter

I pulled the filter board and checked every single capacitor in the Band 2
string, and all are the correct values. One minor deviation is that C18
calls

Mark, with an ohmmeter, check continuity of the leads from the paddle to the
tip, ring, and ground of the connector/adapter. I'll swag that the ground
lead is open.

I upgraded to HRD V6 and the KX3 has it’s own option there. Works well for me.
I’m currently running the 30 day demo mode for HRD 6, but it’s worked well
especially with the KX3 so I plan on forking out the money when the demo
expires.

Yes, the most likely problem has to do with the filter board, and the
most likely area of the filter board is the PreMixer bandpass filter.
Is this a 4 band board or a 2 band 40 and 20 board? If it is a 4 band
board, you must align 15 (or 17) meters before 20 meters and 30 meters

Travis, that's interesting that the KX3 was quiet. Sometimes I think the k3 is
just too sensitive. I don't know if that's it or not. I've certainly wondered.

The KX3 is a direct to baseband receiver with the DSP being done at
baseband (or if RX shift is on at 8 kHz.) while the K3 downconverts to
the 8 MHz IF before digitizing and sending the data to the DSP.
So the two receiver architectures are different.

The gear is interconnected using the Elecraft DB15 cables from K3 to KAT500
