Hi Hank,
I can also confirm the problem but can not speculate on when it
started. I have the KRC2
and also am using using a Array Solutions 6 pack. I went this route when the
KAT500 did not have
enough switching. I also have the Array Solutions relay box that was part of

I have an MFJ-1788 Loop as well. I liked it pretty well. Got very close
to the end of my WAS with it, though I started that in 1977. I also had
my first ever JA contact on 40M with it. I put it on my garage roof with
a Radio Shack rotator and it worked pretty darn well.
I only replaced it because
Hi Hank,
The problem of the K3 locking up when power is removed from the KRC2
started around the time KPA500 support was added to the K3 firmware.
It's "normal" in that it's "not just you", if that helps any...

I have a KRC2 using the AUX bus which works OK , switching the RATPAK 5 6

I would like to be able to turn off the KRC2 to allow manual switching of the

I have an MFJ-1788 Loop (40M - 15M Version of the MFJ-1786 Loop) that I

The internal fuse and reverse polarity protection diodes that protects the
K3 does NOT protect the KPA3, so you probably blew the KPA3 finals and will
need replacements.
In the meantime, you can run the K3 at 10 watts. When you increase power
beyond about 12 watts, the KPA3 switches on putting a
Has anyone connected their kx3 to the kpa500 amp?
Yes, works great. About 175 watts average out.

Came with the KX3 I bought. Excellent, like new condition. I prefer using my
other paddles. $100 shipped insured to CONTUS. Please contact mike (AI6II at

I have tried everything. Yes, I have the jumper out in the control box of
the RemoteRig. Has anybody successfully gotten a Heil mike to work?
My MH2 works FB with the JMP1 jumper in. I have full function and have had

I think the Ionosphere Fairy did not smile on us today.
I could never get good enough copy on net control to check in. I could only
copy a few check-ins, one from Michigan and one with a KPA500 from Oklahoma.
I've had QRP QSO's from Oregon to Palo Alto before, but not today.

I run a K3/KPA500 combo at 500+ watts out. Even I needed N6JW to relay me
in to Phil today.

Band conditions here were also dreadful. I tried the same process. I could
occasionally hear some voice like artifacts in the noise, but the noise was s8
and s9 solidly for the first 30-45 minutes. I tried calling for a relay, but
heard nobody. Noise here was horrible. Earlier in the morning
Tried to check in this morning to no avail. Asked for relay since I could not
hear net control, but nobody came back. So after a half hour I stated
"negative contact, going QRT" and shut down. There needs to be some way for us
using K3/10 and other low power rigs to get into the net.

I have an AlexLoop, I use it with my K2 and KX1 on field events and

good as the BP did in any of its various configurations. It's a small
magnetic loop, it performs pretty much as the theory says. It's not
real effective
Greetings,
In my quest to find a low profile antenna, I've looked at a lot of
possibilities. I was curious if anyone has and experience with the MFJ 1786
loop antenna. It looks like it has decent reviews on eham. I can deal with
tuning it whenever I move the dial. I realize it's only rated to 150
