Harry:
Are these values on a dummy load or feeding the KAT500 or antenna direct?
I just quickly checked my KPA500 into a dummy load at 500 watts output.
The currents run from 14.0A on 20M to a low of 11.5A depending on
band. This is done with 500 watts output as shown on my Bird 43 and

HI,
I'm new here and new to Elecraft. I have to KPA/KAT500 combo and love it! I
do have a question about PA current though...
On all bands except 20, when running full power out, my HV sits around 64v
and PA current is stable between 10 and 12A. FAn takes it's time coming on

Just curious on my part, with my K3S I ran FT-8 for about an hour making
1 contact after another on 20M. Power output was set to100 watts
although the external powers meters (2 different ones) show a bit more
than 100 watts. Started with PA temperature at 36°C and never saw it
go over 50°C.
That did it Don, thanks!

Running FT8 30W my KXPA100 is psuging 55C and dropped to 35C with a 3" USB
fan placed on top of the fins. When the shack gets cold this Winter, I may
take the fan off again ;-)

Steve and all,
I used cqrlog for a couple years and it's impressive. For sake of
simplicity, however, I went back to the trio of xlog & xdx with hamlib
support. I made a minor modification xdx so that when I select a new
(for me) dx, I can then paste the call into xlog.
As to Elecraft soft

I am beginning, rather belatedly, to understand the source of the many
users reporting low Tx audio levels with the 64-bit MS Windows version
of WSJT-X. I stated above that "Pwr" slider in WSJT-X directly controls
the Windows audio mix

Yes. I've documented that here:

I believe this problem has been solved in Windows 10.
I've not had a problem with com ports changing with Windows 10 updates.
The problem has been with audio settings changing. The setting its self doesn't
change, but the audio level at that setting changes. When upgrading to version

As far as I know, Macs don't have this problem. Those trying to
solve it in Linux might try to understand how Apple addresses
it. With some luck, the Apple approach is in the open source
part of MacOS, making it easy to study. Windows users might
approach Microsoft saying that other OSs have so
I am also interested in the answers to this question. Also, has
anyone gotten N1MM to run under Wine?

Clive,
I’m experimenting with CQRlog on Ubuntu 18.04. I’m to the point of rig
control, CW via WinKeyer & general logging. My rig is KX3. The system works
well.
I’m in certain as to how much further I’ll go as my DXLABS set up on W10
functions very well. Also, I’ve not found a good contest

Amongst my old PCs I have one (AMD A4-3330) that I have installed Ubuntu

Hi.
You can "fix" regular USB<>Serial devices, to always show up at the same
COM port, when the system (re)starts, or you (re)plug something.
Plenty of instructions on the interweb, including this which I had a
part in, that seems to work with Windows 10 & earlier.
