Besides VOX has always kinda scared me given the potential for unwanted TX.

When I had my radio set up about 20 feet from the kitchen, I used a foot switch
so my replies to my wife didn’t go out over the air. When I moved to New
Hampshire and my shack moved into an isolated room, I started using VOX, which
works very well on my K3.

Totally agree with Jack. I've been using CM500s for over a decade. I've
replaced several but they used to be half the current price. Nevertheless, I
have a new pair still in the package as a back up.
That said, since moving away from Elecraft they are not as easy to use. (One

For use in very hot and humid climates, you might consider ear buds. I used my
Etymotic buds for 4 weeks of operating on T32C without much of an issue. A
little Vaseline helps with the seal and reduces what irritation there is.
