I was going to suggest an LC filter for non-critical work. If Elecraft would
supply replacement carrier boards with the pin sockets either mounted or
available it would be nice.
Inrad has supplied these blank boards at a reasonable price ($10?) in the past
for various radios.

the Orion(2) is more refined and more finished than the K3 is certainly a
stretch in my eyes, after 4.5 years on the Orion.

it from the K3's IF. That means only signals that make it through the
passband filter.
Au contrare - K3's IF output is shown on the schematics to clearly be
taken before the crystal filters.

Perhaps folks who are reporting audio issues with the latest firmware can
make some WAV recordings that we can listen to, with the good and bad
firmware versions.
