no longer have to ability to get a 1:1 match using the tuner. I know it is
OCD (no pun intended) but I have always been able to get 1:1 with the

I would guess that max # of charge cycles never comes into play in most Ham
Radio related battery failures. It is more than likely that it is simply
age or abuse. Over the years I doubt if 5% of my battery failures were due
to exceeding the number of charge cycles.

a very steep drop in output voltage very early on in the discharge cycle
(15%). Also having to remove them continually increases the potential to

Powered up my KX3 ( SN31XX) tonight for evening net and noticed what appeared
to be an overheated component smell on the left side of the radio after
about 6 mins. Never saw smoke. Radio performed normally and after shutting
down and opening it I did not immediately see anything. PS was 13.9V an

There was a bug in the last firmware update that has not been fixed. The
file name that the PX3 saves the data to is different than the file name
that it tries to read the data back in from. Until the firmware is
corrected, you need to manually edit the saved file name to have it match

There was an issue with saving and recalling the configuration and memory
settings with the PX3 but I do not recall ever seeing a firmware update to
fix. The issue was during the last update, there was an oversight. The
file name for file was changed in one section of the code, but not in

If you are saying you switched bands with the amp still transmitting, that
would probably cause what you are seeing. There is a short delay after
switching bands to switch in the new tuner settings. You should give the amp

I don't recommend fully charging either LiFe or LiPo batteries before storing
them. Many of the better chargers have a storage mode that brings them up
to about 40% charge. Storing fully charged batteries will shorten their
life.

I don't think you have to worry about "C-rating" running a KX3. You are not
drawing 20-80A, but more like 2-3A. As for low voltage cut off, you can
set that in radio or use an external power /voltage meter to monitor it.

Most people use the 4S LiFe vs LiPo as the fully charged voltage is closer to

Did not mean to imply that the Raspbery Pi or BBB panadpater was anywhere
close to the PX3, but that looking at the code could help with OP's original
question. Built mine while waiting for PX3 and yes they are day and night
re functionality and ease of use. I love my PX3

Also be aware that many PC's ( especially laptops) do not have stereo line
-in jacks. There is an excellent program written for the BeagleBone Black
that does a Panadapter for the KX3. You can find it here.

Connect the KX3 utility it will show you the exact values the tuner has
chosen to match the antenna.
