My K1 and the K3 are still going strong - by far the best CW rigs !
Have fun with all the new rigs !

Never had a problem with Your Products I am using! ( K1, K3 and spares )
experienced quick response when asking for spares. Hints came quickly.
Even firmware issues were solved quickly - THANK YOU and have nice
holidays

Hi list,
I'm planning to be on vacation in southern spain in
cqww cw this year. I wonder if in those crowded bands
it is possible to use a K1, which I'd prefer to bring
along. I don't want to win anything, just join the
test for some hours.
- Will I have fun?
- Will the receiver handle the crowd
Hi list,
got a K2 from another OM on my workbench. It's got a
receiver problem and I just want to make sure I do the
checks in the correct order and I'm looking for hints,
if available!
Thanks in advance!
So here's the problem and what I want to do. It seems
the receiver runs with "handbrake on"
OK,
I found out that I put out too much power with my
XV144. This is because I did alignment with 12V and
later ran the rig with 13,8V.
I did two things to nearly solve the problem of
overheating my XV144.
1st I realigned power with 13,8V
2nd I disassembled the chassis, removed the heat
rubbers
Hi list,
I have run into some minor problems regarding
temperature rises with the mentioned devices and like
your opinion/solution.
1st, the KPA100. I noticed that even when I only
answer some CQs in a contest (CW) the fins get very
hot - of course the little fan fights it. Not to speak
of CQing
Hello all,
my problem(s) are solved. Due to circumstances I don't
know two things at once happened and made it hard to
find the problem:
- first I had a cold solder joint on the filter board
in the 30/40 section of the premix bandpass filter
which was hard to find and then
- second I have a bad
Hi elecrafters,
as of yesterday a new member of my elecraft family is
on the air. Joining my K2 #4309 I built a K1-4 #1985
with KAT1 and KBT1. Made the first contacts with 10m
of wire tossed into a bush this weekend. Worked G and
LA and some DL with K1 running on internal NiMH
2100mAh with 5W.
I
Good morning,
I'm still in the process of building my kpa100. After
my learning process concerning soldering :-) I
stumbled upon some voltages.
I'm on page 43 in the manual now and got some numbers
a bit off the given values (PS is 14V).
D13 154V
U4 -27.4V
TP1 0V
J3+ 0.1V
Are these numbers ok?
Hi,
just read the manual for the KAT100. It states to
remove C44 on K2 control board before using KAT100.
OK. How does this affect the use of the K2 without the
KAT100, with KAT2?
You see, I want to switch covers from qrp to qro :-)
Thanks

Hi,
I'm just thinking if it's possible to have two top
covers for my K2 and if yes what is there to be
thought of? Are they to be changed without problem -
just unplug and plug?
I currently have the "qrp cover" :-) SPKR, ATU, BAT
and KIO and I am thinking about one "qro cover".
Merry x-mas to ev
Hi,
I would like to suggest a minor modification for the
next firmware release of the K2.
When I press PLAY MSG with no number following the K2
doesn't respond to keying from my paddle. It would be
nice if it would cancel the PLAY command and key the
transmitter.
Until I noticed the behaviour I
Hi,
thanks for recommending another Diode. The vendor
suggested to use UF4007 instead of 1N4007 maybe. What
do you think?
Of course it's hard to get the D36 here in Germany.
Any idea, German readers???
I think of getting it at
- HAM Radio,
- QRP-Projekt
- or Elecraft

Hi,
if I signal trace with my oscilloscope and want to
know the Vrms values at certain points in my K2...
... is ist correct to measure the amplitude (not peak
to peak) of the signal and then divide by the square
root of 2?
Will I get values I can check against the given Vrms
values in the manua
Hi all,
I have a problem. After assembly my K2 (#4309) doesn't
have any output at all. So I went examining...
I suspect maybe T3 is wrong: Looking at the pictures
(appendix, not drawing in assembly section) in the
manual T3 clearly has more then 5 turns. Looking at K2
toroid pictures of ac6kw thi
Hi all,
I'm currently building my K2 and am at the first point
to measure resistances in the circuits.
I'm using a Standard - DMM. Now the problem: When a
check should bring up let's say 70-90k and I switch
the DMM to 200k it will read abt 40k. Do I switch it
to 2M I'll get a reading much highe
