Don’t attempt to use a standard RS232 cable with the K2. You should be
using a specially made cable which is shown in the manual.

In fact, pink was a manly colour until a couple of generations ago. Blue
was for the girls :)

Hi all,
The first UK Elecraft net of 2010 will be run tomorrow (Sunday) at 09:00 on
3768 +/- QRM. I would love to hear you there, especially if you have not
called in before or if you are thinking about buying an Elecraft radio or
just ordered one etc. There is a lot of Elecraft expertise on the

You do not want bias on for a HC4, it is a dynamic insert.

I would love to see 3 things...
1) Receive EQ by mode
2) Monitor on the KDVR to not be in the TX chain
3) Decent Memory management
Anything else is a bonus but those are my wishes for 2010 :)
Seasons greetings to all the gang at Aptos!

My guess would be that you have the wrong adapter. It needs to be the
Kenwood one. The settings should be FP-H and no bias.

Hi all,
I have been following this thread with interest. My experience is that my
K3 seems noisy at home where my ambient RF noise floor can be anything up to
s9 at times with the amount of RF producing electrical junk all around me.
However, when I use it at a 'quiet' location such as our DXpedi

I sincerely hope that the small filter board will be available for those of
us without the newer DSP board. I will not be getting the newer board, I
can think of other things I would like to spend my money on than replacing a
perfectly good DSP board.

Yes, VAT was dropped to 15% last year for the recession. It goes back up in
January and I very much doubt it will be 17.5% as before!

Hi all,
Just a reminder that the net will be run as usual on 3658 +/- QRM at 09:00
tomorrow. I hope to see you there. We had a good discussion on several
topics last week and it would be good to get your input.

Hi all,
For some reason my K3 will not switch off this morning. I hit the power off
button and it powers down and starts again immediately. Obviously it goes
off when I power the PSU down but it is somewhat annoying. I have
reinstalled the firmware in case of corruption but have not as yet done

Hi all,
I might be having a blonde moment but I am looking at the W2 and it seems to

You know what? That is a really great idea! What about an add on box that
gives a bank of programmable buttons? Should be cheap enough to produce and
could give band stacking etc? It would not have to just be for the sub but
could have tap for main, hold for sub etc?
