I have had this KX1 for a while. This fault was noted (maybe arose)
during a recent garden op. session.
Bands 7/10/20 are all operational selectable as normal, but 3.5 is skipped
completely.
I acquired this little gem ready built fully working, so am a bit wary of
taking it apart.

I am a bit reluctant to post this in case it is a well worn topic - but I have
searched the archive scratched my head awhile, so here goes :
My K2 (Rev B) CALFIL/display worked OK when last run a while ago.
This time, after pressing BAND minus and seeing the expected DAC code,
pressing
I have a similar experience - my 700 HZ 400 Hz filter selections are maybe 3
db down on
The 2.4 Khz SSB filter setting and the 200 Hz filter is at least a further 6db
down.
I am going to redo the alignment.

I recall reversing the phase of one head phone, with respect to the other, in a
high-impedance head-set of 1960s' vintage.
I incorporated a switch into the wiring to achieve apparent CW signal
separation under some conditions.
It worked surprisingly well. I have tried the same thing with more
This triggered the recollection that /QRP as a call sign suffix
is illegal (ie contrary to license conditions) in UK - certainly clubs
like GQRP FISTS UK pe remind us of that from time to time,

It is an interesting amusing comment upon practically any company - other
than Elecraft !
I was thinking as I read Wayne's message - this has got to be unique - a
world-class
designer taking time out to share his issues problems in such an informative
open way.
I am saving pennies
My experience - varies from 5 days to 3 weeks, the latter
due to Customs' delay at the Heathrow hub - whatever that is..

I have acquired a 2nd K2 (via a rally sale) so now have my K2/100 main rig plus
a K2 QRP rig.
One set-up that I would like to try is using the 2nd rig as an integrated 2nd
receiver.
It has RANT I can use separate aerials (antennas) - any advice/cautions
would be welcome. I absolutely don't
I too have proved that the design does not have an idiot diode ! Unlike other
MFJ
units, the schematic for this was not available (may be it is now..), so repair
took me a while.
I find the 259 useful. When not in various test equipment modes, I use it as a
quiet tuner - with various manual
I have used the MFJ model (1786 ?) which covers 10 to 30 MHZ.
I have also used various horizontal wire loops in bedrooms currently have a
40M full size version
(more-or-less) following the edges of my loft - about 33 ft AGL. This one is a
good general-purpose qwiet receive antenna for 80
A very stimulating thread !
My thoughts so far :
* A manual ATU(AMU)(Transmatch)- as already suggested - but with Quiet Tune
facility.
(I presume not easily do-able with something like the excellent T1...)
* PSK31 (plus some other data modes...) - some kind of smart SW/HW
My partial (and inelegant)solution to the K1 150KHZ tuning range being a bit
sharp is to use a small mechanical slow-motion drive mounted directly on the
VFO pot shaft, much as an extension drive shaft would be.
It has a 6:1 reduction which gives a smooth slow rate..
I do not fix it via its
