we put up the AD as a 2nd station antenna that doesn't
need any attention ... just switch to it and go.
It's extremely well-made, but very heavy. It's at 65',
help up with 3/8" Dacron
I can attest that obtaining UL, CSA and "foreign"
certification for anything that "plugs in" is an involved
and costly process. I went through the process a few
years ago with a medical product, and I can understand
why Elecraft might want to avoid marketing AC PSU

If you're confronted with a situation where you need
to send with your "other" hand ... as in when you're
visiting someone's station ... just turn the paddles
around so the paddles face away from you and
reach over

with his right index finger and the key is sideways to
his hand!

There -might- be an issue related to a forgotten
low pass TVI filter tucked away under the desk.
Some units were / are OK to 52 MHZ, but many
aren't. They can be the source of "strange" rig
behavior on 6M.

I used to work at the University of Colorado's Radio
Astronomy Laboratory and enjoyed a rather close
association with the folks at NBS and NASA. Some
of the best "learning" in my life took place on napkins
in the NBS cafeteria. A close friend (K0RZ) was project

I have had a 35A Astron running under my bench for several
decades. It's never been off, other than for power outages.
There's a RIGrunner fused distribution box on the wall behind
the equipment that feeds everything that's 12VDC in the station.
Works for me.

FCC site says the WPD license expired in 1996. Would have
expected it to been gone long ago. Google Earth shows an
asphalt lot at 1330 McKay St where it was. Had two self-
supporting towers and a ship's console for a station.

In retrospect ... tried to use the Elecraft wiki a couple of times,
but found the moderator(s) to be heavy-handed and wanting
to edit or simply wouldn't wouldn't allow some postings. Never
came back.

antennas that many of us have on our vehicles are very
close to resonance on 6M and will work reasonably well

I use the 2nd receiver to monitor 50.125 for 6M
band openings. The receiver has a dedicated
antenna input connected to a 6M GP and doesn't
use any of the internal RX antenna switching options.
