I have not used their headset with microphone combination but if it works as

All,
Just wondering if anyone has tried driving a KPA-500 with a K2? If so what
output did you get at 5 watts in? 10 watts in?
Thanks in advance for any ideas/data.

been really great to
watch! One thing is certain though, Elecraft is certainly one of the best of
the amateur radio companies out there with service like none other. Maybe
that's why they have so much business and such a loyal base of users.
Just my 2 cents worth.

All,
I ordered the part I was told to order as the PIN diode is no longer available
along with the rest of the keying mod kit.
The part I ordered is E120014 BAP64-05
It is a surface mounted part that appears to have 3 connections. Did I order
the wrong surface mount part?
If this is the

K2's 100 watt amp and I was wondering if that still holds for
the latest version of the K2 amp and also for the KXPA100?
Also, I don't think I need to do the mod to the keying before I upgrade the
firmware. Am I correct in that?
Thanks in advance for any ideas/suggestions/etc.

Thought this might be of interest to the K3 builders as it could be very
useful especially if the K3 was going to be operating in high vibration
environments or was going to go on a DXpedition.

I'll just add in my 2 cents worth here too.
I've been using an Outbacker Perth Plus as a mobile antenna for the past 5+
years and have been VERY satisfied with the results. I run mostly 40 meter CW
while I commute but occasionally work 20 CW and even once in a blue moon SSB on
20.

*A few more points for clarification: When my XYL, Connie, originally
answered the call, at my home, from the producers of the show, she
explained that I operated both codes and that I considered myself to be

All,
Well to answer some of the questions I have received:
1. Ben was just getting ready to start entering the last 2 words when I
was done.
2. None of us had any idea of the text we would be sending, not only for
the "show" but also for the 3 rehersals (in which we smoked em every time)

All,
Tonight Chip, K7JA and I, K6CTW will be having a "contest" on "The

I have tried a number of the programs but I am currently running the Marote
