Hi Jim
I bought a 1234 in March of 2020.
I am using this iPhone 10 XR and NO-IP to control it from remote locations. CW
worked right away and SSB needed three menu changes to the K3S. The monitor for
SSB must be set to minimum, MIC+LIN must be set to off and MIC SEL must be set
to LInE In.

I have a Kill A Watt meter. Plugging the kpa 500 in with front switch off draws
7 watts. Standby draws 12 watts and operate draws 13 watts. 500 watts out on

Hope that helps.

I like the way the KX3 will let me use the automatic spot on the receiver only
when the RIT is on. I have always wished the K3 and K3S would do the same thing
as the automatic spot works so well but I do not want to move the transmitter
at the same time with the RIT on.

I bet each one of you that has this problem has one defective output power

Hi Jim
The answer to your problem is you have a bad FET in the final of your K3S. I
had the same problem and my K3S is at Elecraft right now being repaired. The
distortion above the 12 watt level is the clue.
I also have the KPA500 and the KAT500 and I had a problem with my antenna that

Hi Brian
Sorry for the alligator operation. I usually do not call with the 500 watts but

I have been thinking about a KPA500 and KAT500 for quite some time and

I am pleased I decided to get my K3s SN 10329 instead of waiting for the parts

I built my K2 in 2000 and used it until I donated it to a local high school in

Hi to the Gang
This is a subjective question but after using a 500 hz and 200 hz filter for 7
years I ordered a 400 filter for my K3s. The main reason is it works well for
both CW and RTTY and of course the DSP does all the rest. I also ordered a 2.1
khz filter so if I go past 400 hz I get that

Hi to the gang
My vote would be for the 400 hz filter. I ordered one for my K3s and like it.
