If you're handy with a soldering iron, these FTDI USB to RS-232 "wire end"
cables work well:

The cable is a USB plug / converter at one end and "bare wires" at the other
end. You will need to solder on a connecto

Hi Andrew,
Apple is pretty restrictive with what / who / how the USB and Bluetooth
Interfaces get used in iOS. As a result, not much has been developed for the
wired or bluetooth interface for iPad/iPhone, WiFi, however, is another story.
I've been happily using the HamLog app with two device
Hi Eric,
I've used it with my KX3 and used DATA A mode and set the audio levels like I
would for other digital modes. I would think the K3 would be the same.

The KX3 I/Q output has to be enabled via the KX3 menu before it will work. It's
also pretty low level, so make sure the iMic is set to mic level instead of
line level. The iSDR app will route the sound output to the iMic output jack,
so you will also need to connect headphones or a powered speak
Hi Keith ,
I also use the HamLog/Pigtail combo for portable operations and recommend it,
it works very well. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of your installation!

I run iSDR on iPad connected to the KX3 with a camera adapter and a Griffin
iMic
external soundcard.
A laptop running NaP3 with stereo mic inputs (or with a USB device like the
Griffin iMic) would work too.

Buck,
I've had results similar to what Tony describes. I'm using a external Griffin
iMic as the soundcard. It works well, and I have been able to use a Virtual
Audio Cable (VAC) to route the NaP3 audio to a 3rd party digital mode
application (I use Fldigi). You still need an external cable

I can vouch for and highly recommend the circuit on Don's website. I built one
several years ago and installed it in my K2. I wired it to unused pins in the
mic connector so I only had one cable to deal with when
connecting/disconnecting. I've made many PSK and RTTY contacts using it.

I can vouch for that. I backpack with my KX1 and have never had a problem with

until my KX3 arrives (although, I'm beginning to wonder if that will ever
really happen).
I also have a K2 with the 100W and and auto tune

I use one of these "Bump" speakers with several rigs, including my KX1:

Bob,
I've used FLRig/FLDigi on Linux with my K2 for a while now and had no issues -
I ran the ARRL RTTY Roundup that way this year. I don't know about the windows
version, I'll give it a try this evening and see what happens.

Brian,
You will need to make a special cable with three (3)connectors to connect
the appropriate signals to both the KAT100 and the RS-232 port on your PC.
See page 25 of the KAT100 manual for details.
Don't try to a standard serial I/O cable for the RS-232, that will do bad
things to your K2/10
Tom,
I hate to admit this, but I had a similar problem when I built my KPA100.
The reason I hate to admit it is after troubleshooting, I found that I had
installed Q6, Q7 (the two odd shaped FETs) backwards. To make matters
worse, I broke a lead on one removing it to turn it around and ended up
Jim,
My KPA100 is the mounted as the top cover for my KAT100-2 in an EC2. It is
very easy to do and works well. All of the connections that would be made
between the KPA100 and the K2 are present in the KAT100, almost as though it
was designed to be configured this way.
Your K2 will need a KIO2
Paul,
You will need an adapter for the 706. It uses a 1/4" stereo plug instead of
the 1/8" stereo plug used by the KX1. The 706 also needs the plug wired to
close the circuit tip to shell, and you will need to turn off the internal
keyer in the "Q4 CW PADDLE" Quick menu (press and hold "DISPLAY" f
Enjoy the hike! I was there with my KX1 last Friday while on vacation.

Greetings All,

I would check the solder connections on the toroids in the PLL section, in
particular, the transformers. Check continuity thru the windings by measuring
from other component leads connected to the pads the toroid leads are soldered
to. If you don't get the toroid leads cleaned and tinned proper
Sorry if this is a dupe, I tried to send it earlier but had the wrong 'from'
