[Elecraft] K3 KRX3 Kit For Sale

2012-07-07 Thread Norm Duxbury, W1MO
I bought my KRX3 kit in 2008, put the box on a shelf, and never built it. It's for sale now to someone who will build it and get some enjoyment from it. Kit includes standard 2.7 kHz filter, plus 400 Hz cw filter, in box as received from Elecraft. Current Elecraft price is $739.90, plus

[Elecraft] [K3] Serial cable for my new K3

[Elecraft] [K3] Questions and K3 options? Please!

2008-07-08 Thread Norm Duxbury
I am a cw guy and use the standard 2.7 kHz 5-pole filter and the 400 Hz 8-pole filter. I find them to be an excellent combination. 73, Norm - W1MO ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to: Elecraft@mailman.qth.net You must be a subscriber to post to the

[Elecraft] K3 BFO Pitch Increment Request

2008-06-21 Thread Norm Duxbury
Currently the BFO pitch is adjustable in 50 Hz increments. Could this please be changed to a minimum of every 10 Hz? I think most cw ops will agree that 10 Hz increments would add worthwhile flexibility. I think this was discussed some months ago, but I never saw that it had been resolved.

[Elecraft] K3: band-bitch

2008-05-29 Thread Norm Duxbury
If you're using WriteLog software, K3 bandswitching is a breeze -- Simply type the first two digits of the desired band (14, e.g.) into WriteLog, hit Enter, and you're there (14000). Want to go to an exact frequency? Type it and hit Enter. And, after you're there, you can even fine-tune

[Elecraft] Re: Zero beat hint and why 800hz maximum?

2008-05-16 Thread Norm Duxbury
Willis, Don't forget, your K3 will have CWT which gives a visual indication of cw zero beat. It works very well. 73, Norm - W1MO 'Cookie' wrote:I don't know what technique I will use with my K3. I will have to wait until I get it on the air to find out. (December 27 order and still waiting).

[Elecraft] RE: K3 Band Changing using Memories

2008-05-07 Thread Norm Duxbury
Dick, If you're using Writelog, in the Call entry space simply type the exact frequency to which you want to QSY, hit Return, and you're there! Maybe some other logging programs allow this. 73, Norm - W1MO ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to:

[Elecraft] CW Mistakes

2008-04-25 Thread Norm Duxbury
Don't worry about making mistakes, Frank, whether they be procedural or Morse. We've ALL been through those first few QSOs and made plenty of errors. Probably the most common beginner's mistake is to repeat unnecessarily. If someone tells you you're 579, you have a good signal and he's

I, too, hear the clicky noises, but using cw with PTT (rather than QSK). I use 400 Hz filter, AGC-F, and an external keyer. The cw Monitor audio level could be increased to match the receiver audio capability. I am using 8 Ohm headphones, which may be part of the problem (the manual recommends

N6TR: This is an important point that I should have made before. We need an option to ignore any input on the paddle input (or CW input) unless PTT is asserted. Amen! Rather than using a Spot button, I send a few dashes from my key to hear my sidetone when zero beating someone. Less

[Elecraft] K3...Kit or Assembled?

2007-06-24 Thread Norm Duxbury
Hi Hank, No, of course not. It means that, for whatever reason, you don't want to assemble it. No other meaning was intended. I was surprised that so many chose to assemble theirs. Cheers, Norm - W1MO ___ Elecraft mailing list Post to:
