Hello David
Why the diode? Well, any relay driven by a solid-state device should have a
diode across its coil (in reverse polarity!) to short reverse voltage
spikes. Transistor are rather fast switches... and such spikes would damage
them. Never drive a relay from a transistor or IC without such
No such problem here, serial number 586, FW 3.54...

When operating in digital A modes after holding the TUNE button, which gives
the proper power out indication, the following happens when going into PSK
transmit:
1, There is no power out of the K3
2, The ALC readout is showing

My latest suggestion for a "toggleable" split macro (including SUB on/off):
SWT13;SWT13;SWH13;UPB5;RT0;XT0;SWT48;
I assigned it to PF1 - works flawlessly.
But you'll need the latest Utility.
Just loaded Utility 1.2.10.27 and FW MCU 3.52 - no problem!
This was my third download in 24 hours - look
Right, Chuck - or even simpler:
FR0;

Nice new feature! Makes the K3 an even more versatile and user-friendly DX
machine!
Installation went smoothly, except previous assignment of macros SPLIT/SUB
on/off to PF1/PF2 was erased in the process and function switches changed to
the MIX commands...
Assigned the SPLIT macros again and now al
Glad you like it, Lou!
I programmed
SWT13;SWT13;FT1;UPB5;RT0;XT0;SWT48;
as SPLIT+2 on PF1
and:
FR0;SWT48;
as SPL OFF on PF2 for a quick UNsplit/SUB RX OFF function!
Now Split on/off is as simple as PF1/PF2...
Great Firmware!

Thanks Wayne for letting me try the new utility and FW 4.47. Installation
went smoothly and the quick shift function is very convenient in the heat of
the DX battle!
I added command SWT48; to turn the sub receiver on at the same time.
Thanks Elecraft for this new great feature!

No such problem here either.

Thanks, Tom. Yes, I read about this functionality and I used it.
But it's both ways...

On two occasions, I had that issue with the audio blast. Only on 160m so far.
After changing bands, I held TUNE to check the SWR, it was OK except I heard
TWO short, high-tone beeps when pressing the button, although SW TONE is
permanently OFF.
Tried again, the two beeps came again and this time,

Neither did I, Wayne, and I'm quite happy with the K3's audio, both RX and
TX.
For my part, I prefer classical - but that is certainly not what I purchased
the K3 for!
