Hi everyone,
Has anyone out there used Echo Link? Do I need any other interface
beyond the RS232 interface I have in my K2?
Thanks Terry de KC0QZX

Hi everyone,
I have two antennas...an unmatched longwire and a vertical. The
unmatched longwire interferes with our two line 900MHz phone system a little
bit but
the vertical almost destroys audible altogether. While transmitting CW on the
vertical, there is a loud clicking sound on bot
Hi everyone,
Well, the noise level has been lowered a lot, but I'm still getting
higher noise levels than I think I should. On 40-meters, I am getting an
average
of S2-4 peaking at S5 around the time thunderstorms begin to form.
I've put up a vertical which helped. Putting down 12 tuned
Hi everyone,
It seems I have a knack for starting reflector wars. I would like to
offer my many thanks to you all for your wonderful and informed responses.
Through the many responses, I bought and am reading ON4UN's Low Band DX's book,
bought and setup the Hustler 6BTV vertical antenna
Hi Per,
I ended up buying a Hustler 6BTV and mounting it behind my shack. The
noise is a little worse but the signals come in at least twice as strong as
with my dipole, (however, the dipole is more like a monopole with a single
counterpoise). You may want to checkout www.dxengineering.c
Hi all,
I am having a ball with my new K2, (S/N 4275). I finally busted through
the 15 WPM barrier and am on my way to 20 WPM. Now to my problem...
My antenna is a 100' length of wire fed by 50' of RG8X Mini. The feed point
is at 10' off the ground through a balun. The wire arches up t
Hi everyone,
Holy Smokes!!! I sure didn't foretell the staggering array of weapons I
would be able to place in my radio arsenal from this one!
Many thanks to all for the many comments, enchoragements, suggestions and
reflections. I went out today and bought the ARRL Wire Antenna Classics
Hi again everyone,
The reason I was asking about the 6-meter stuff was that the HF bands
are in about the same shape as my dog...he dies two years ago. With the
exception of 1-hour in the evening and two hours in the morning, the bands are
pretty
useless...and we still have YEARS to go b
Hi everyone,
I'm sure that this will bring a laugh or two but here goes...
Why can I turn the VFO dial up past 50MHz if the radio cannot receive
6-meters? Do I need to purchase a 6-meter radio and a transverter? With the
transverter hooked up to the K2, am I using the 6-meter radios recei
Hi Paul,
I haven't done any soldering in about 20-years! When I bought my K2 kit
a month ago, I went out and researched irons. I settled on a Weller WESD51
after talking to a technician at the National Renewable Energy Labs. He stated
that he uses that one because of its superior static
Hi everyone,
I am going to use the Spectrogram software to align my K2. When I build
the cable to go from the earphone jack to the Line In on my sound card, do I
wire it for mono or stereo? Mono or stereo plugs? Speaker wire or thin coax?
Thanks
Hi again everyone,
I was getting ready for my first Elecraft net report-in with my K2 when
I heard a buddy in Utah calling off-frequency. I went down and caught him for
a short to-do. A few minutes later, he called me on the land line and said
my CW tone was very raspy. While he was on
73's everyone,
I don't know if I have a problem or not. I have made several CW
contacts with my newly built K2 during the past week. Most of them, the
incoming
signal goes in and out to a certain extent. For the most part, I can read most
of the message but some it gets lost in the mud
Because I work on ships on all three US coasts, I travel alot. I bring three
radios, 220VAC-120VAC converters, wire dipoles, cameras, electronics parts,
roll-on tool box and lots of other gear. The things that have caused me the
most grief are: Native American flute, (club) electrolytic capaci
Hi everyone,
K2 4275 is alive as of yesterday morning. Last night I also passed my
General test. Now I can come down and play at the 40-meter watering hole. It
got a little lonely up there between 7100-7150. Few people wanted to come up
and play. I'll be reporting to my ship on July 1

Hi all,
When I first researched buying an oscilloscope, I tried EBAY. I found a
nice 50-MHz Tektronix's and bought it. Unfortunately, it must have fallen
off the truck because it was pretty much beat-up too badly to work. My next
stop was the local instrument rental shop. They had o-sc
I am a new HAM operator witha Tech+ ticket, (hopefully General after this
weekend).
I am presently building my K2 but it is going slowly due to lack of time.
Last night, being pretty brain dead after four hours of studying for a
commercial radio operators test, I decided to give 40-meters a try
