i figure while i have the front panel board unattached, i should
probably start thinking about which mic to get, since i have never owned
one.. and i need to get some parts for the rigblaster anyway.. so i
should decide..
here's what i am looking for in a mic..
i am not dead set on fidelity..
okay, i have not been working very diligently on my k2.. i have had tons
to do at work, and any time i have been in my workshop, i have been
playing with the k1..
but i have just made some headway..
i have been using the no rework kit (which i TOTALLY suggest to anyone
building a k2..) so i
Those are just jumper wires in the audio path (see the schematic), so
there is nothing special about them other than that they need to exist.
If you plan to install either the KAF2 or the KDSP2, intall the jumpers
so that you can easily remove them. In fact, if you have the KAF2 or
KDSP2 kit
i STILL haven't started the build on my k2 yet, as i have been too busy
playing with my k1..
anyway..
when it comes time to align the filters, i don't have a windows machine
anywhere..
is there a suitable program for mac or linux?
thanks!

complete at least three "working rigs" before I attempt to
build the K1. Any suggestions for "beginner kits" as a
prelude to building the K1 would be welcome.
my biggest advice would be...
take you time.. don't try to second guess the manual..

thanks so much to n0ss.. his website and his patience..
i got my K1 fixed, and running like a champ!
i tried to get on the bands, but 40 seemed REALLY crowded.. and no one
was calling cq.. and i think i may have accidentally stepped on someone..
but i heard signals like MAD!

In RX mode, you should (I believe) have something less than 6VDC... it
starts out as 6VDC from 6R/AUX, but might be lower by the time it gets
to the anode of D5. HOW LOW was the voltage on the anode of D5 in RX mode?
hi, tom..
just checked the voltage..
on the anode side of D5, i am gettin
thanks no N0SS, i have finally narrowed down where my problems on my k1
are..
in signal tracing, i actually heard TONS of signals through my radio.. i
have a feeling that it has been broken since day 1... i can't WAIT to
get this fixed and on the air.. i have never heard so many signals on m

Slightly off topic - my wife and I are planning a two week trip to northern Italy
this summer and I'd like to chat with any of our Italian subscribers to our list

have done so). Please
when i built my k1, i set it up for the 150khz range..
looking back at my manual, it says that it is strongly advised to use
the 80khz range..
is it strongly enough advised for me to mod my machine and put it back
to the 80khz range?
thanks!

while i have my k1 opened to the hilt.. i am thinking about making a few
more changes. i think i made a few bad judgment calls when first built
the radio..
i would like to:
change to the 80khz range..
change the edge of 18hmz to 18.1mhz..
i could probably backtrack and make the change, but
when i ordered my k2, i also ordered the noise generator...
i ordered this to help align my k1 that i have been having problems
with.. on the k1, i am missing all sorts of signals that my cheapie
regen receiver is hitting loud and clear..
i am not sure what i am supposed to hear from the noi
