Sorry no one has replied back to you sooner, but I do use a Ben her Padle
with my KX3 and it works great. I am not sure what cable it comes with from
the factory, but the tip and ring are the dot and dash. Can be hooked up
with no problem.

I use an Elecraft Hexkey paddle with a short pigstail 3,5mm female
receptacle connected to it and a standard 3,5 mm male/male cable that
usually delivers with PC-speakers but the factory cable works just as
well... This paddle is essentially a Bencher. Works flawlessly.

If all you want to do at this point is practice sending, you can
download the program CWCom from http://www.mrx.com.au/d_cwcom.htm.
You connect the paddle to the computer via two pins on a serial port.

Hi Gang,
I am SOOO pleased with my Bencher/Elecraft Hex paddle that I want to make sure
it stays clean and pretty until I become a SK. Does anyone know of a source
for a Paddle Dust Cover (plexiglass) for this jewel? I have been given a
couple of references (one WB3EVL and a WP4). One
