Thanks, Tony. One of the components of Com0com is Hub4com and that would
probably do the same thing that VSP Emulator does. Having gotten VSPE
working I am too lazy to try and get Hub4com to work :-)
Anyone coming along later and needing something like this will benefit
from your suggestion.
A while back I asked a question about physically splitting the K2 serial
control cable so that I could have one half of the cable talk to CW
Skimmer and the other half talk to MixW. I got some good suggestions for
which I am thankful.
First it was suggested that I do an internet search for
Jim, you might try a virtual serial port program called Com0com. It is open
source and free. I have installed it and tried to get it to work, but
haven't fooled with it long enough to give it a full critique. It does
install and it does create pairs of virtual serial ports. The ports do
appear in
I have tapped into the K2's IF and am sending the resulting signal to a
Softrock. The output of the Softrock is fed to a CW Skimmer. The K2's
control cable is used by CW Skimmer to display the K2's current
frequency. The connection is bi-directional as the CW Skimmer can
command a change in
Jim,
I would rather suggest you look at LP-Bridge by Larry Phipps. It allows
multiple software applications to use the same com port.

No, LP-Bridge does not allow multiple applications to access the same
COM port .. it allows multiple applications to access the same *K3*,
by placing itself in the middle, and forming a virtual K3, which
keeps itself in sync with the real K3, and provides access to
applications through virtual COM

I'm afraid Iain Is correct. I installed LP-Bridge and found that it's
input port is permanently set to 38400 bps whereas the K2 wants to play
at 4800.
LP-Bridge is the right idea. Are there any other programs similar to
LP-Bridge?

Hi,
I have no idea if this works or is even still in development, but a
quick search for virtual com port led me to:
http://com0com.sourceforge.net/
which includes hub4com, a way to have multiple applications access a
single serial port.
I don't have a need for this just now, so I am not brave
I've had good luck with this free one:

One caveat, doesn't work with 64-bit windows.

Therein lies a problem. I am using 64-bit Windows 7. Thanks anyway.

I've used Eterlogic VSPE for this sort of thing with a K3
(http://www.eterlogic.com/Products.VSPE.html). Don't see why it won't work
with a K2. They do have a 64-bit version but unlike the 32-bit one
