I just wanted to post a general thankyou note to all the people who
sent helpful hints to try and resolve the problem I was having with
the SSB filter in my K2. It turns out that I'd installed D4 and D5
on the SSB board backwards (doh!).

The mistake I made on my KSB2 adaptor acted/sounds like what you are
getting. Have you tried to transmit? Is there audio/RF out? Check the
switching diodes found at either end of the Xtal filter section. Is the
right end up? Are they installed in the right direction. I got one backwards
and go

That is a sign that something is amiss with the filter on the SSB board.
Check all the diodes and the toroid transformers. Be certain the tiny RFCs
do not have any bare wire that is shorting to the crystal cases (slip a
piece of paper between the RFC and the xtal case to check).
