I'm a cw only op also.
Over the years I've had custom made inner ear plugs, a Meyer Aviation
Headset, Extreme Isolation headphones, Yamaha headphones, ear-buds of
all kinds, ...etc...etc
Every over-the-ears headset I've ever tried ended up hurting my ears.
I ended up staying with el-cheepo Ma
For a contest (usually rtty) I'll rotate through a heil proset, Yamaha cm500
and one of several earbuds. Each one seems to press on a different part of my
head/ears so by the end of the contest everything hurts the same and I can make
it through.

Interesting comment - I have experienced very loud noises on the
speakers from my K3 (never on my 480) - 'bout knocked me out of the
chair. Thank you for the caution - it is something I had not thought of.

I use my Apple iPhone ear buds and they work just fine for me. I much prefer
them to the plethora of other headphone devices out there. Now, if Elecraft
could support the mic input of those earbuds that would be cool.

Dear Kevin,
If these are in-the-ear earbuds, please be careful. Some malfunction in the
radio leading to a very loud sound could wreck your ears before you could get
them out / off. I never use in-ear earbuds with electronic equipment other
than well-behaved iPhone type things.

I have been using earbuds with my K3 for about a year. I experimented
with three sets of headphones and seven pairs of earbuds. Since I am a
CW op I don't need great fidelity. On my first pass through all the
transducers I found the earbuds outperformed the headphones. Two of the
headphones
This is not strictly a K3 question, however as all I use these days is
my K3 - I figure it applies.
Does anyone use earbuds as an alternative to headphones? Pros/cons?
Satisfaction? Cheap or expensive?
Thanks,
