I have used Fldigi and its WWV analysis mode to do the same thing by
off-tuning the WWV carrier by 1 kHz. Of course, that presumes that the
sound card is accurately calibrated.

The request was to turn the backlight off. The display is still perfectly
readable. The DAY setting does indeed turn the backlight off, but the LEDs
instead light up really, really brightly. I would also like to see a setting
where the backlight is turned off.
