I hope EN/UL 62368-1 2014 will be implemented on 20 Jun 2019 replacing EN 60065 and EN 60950-1.  When will EN 60335 be replaced with one standard? Scott From: Richard Nute Reply-To: Date: Thursday, 14 July 2016 at 7:25 AM To: Subject: Re: [PSES] Applicable standards for hoverboard in

[PSES] Transmission licences for EMC Test chambers in UK [General Use]

One of our EMC test chambers has had to apply for a Non-Operational Transmission licence (now issued), from Ofcom here in the UK, despite arguments that any emissions were mitigated by the 100dB screening (or more), provided by the chamber. Ofcom are also apparently insisting on licences for tes

I agree with Rich that is one of the problems, and I would add that it is the main problem with the proliferation of product-specific standards. If the principles of product safety (shock, energy, mechanical, chemical) are universal, then it should be possible to write 2 or 3 generic product saf

Consider the profound question, 'How do we get there from here?'. Taking into account how long it took to produce 62386-1 from two former standards ('how long' is indeterminate, because it’s still being improved), how long would it take to turn the 111 standards in 60335 into one? Answer in cen

I can see one advantage of product-specific standards. They are generally, but not always, easier for a novice to apply them correctly. The product-specific standards cover the hazards of that product in detail and typically require less engineering judgement or analysis. This may be helpful on
