Dear Brian,
most European approval agencies accept an CSA approved blower also for
Europe. It means, that the f
- fammability
- motor blocking
- motor overlaod is checked already.
For CE-mark (= self declaration) above is sufficient.

For a battery loader for the use with toys we would do approval to
IEC60335-2-29 in Europe. Is there a similar standard for South Africa and is
a mark required or the CE-mark sufficient for this country?
Thank you in advance for the answers.

I also learned, that there is a three-phase delta system in USA with 500 Vac
per phase.
One phase (L3) is earthed.
Is this system very often used in USA?
Is it correct information, that L3 is always earthed and not L1 or L2.

George,
There is no CB-scheme mark like a UL, GS or other "marks". Nevertheless,
several European power Supply manufacturers write CB-scheme on their type
label, indicating, that they have done a CB-scheme certification.
It is just good information for the customer.

Enclosed are results of a SELV reliability test. The output inductance was
shorted with no load and the ripple increased. In 1.2.13.4 (IEC60950) DC
voltage is defined as a voltage with a peak to peak value less 10 % of the
DC voltage.
In the enclosed file you see the ripple with Peak 49,6 Vpmax an
Peter,
my experience is, that you will not receive a statement from the
manufacturer of the capacitor about the foil around the cap. This would be
required to proof, that it is good for basic insulation.
Our company (we are a GS-mark certification body) does not accept the foil

Be
Peter,
the initial and most important point would be to define the appropriate
European standard. I do not know exact what luminaries you are using for
your ballast for, but EN61046 DC or AC supplied electronic step-down
converter for filament lamps might be appropriate.

Richard,
one of my clients require approval for Australia. (C-tick mark). My
understanding is, that I have to send the sample to Australia for approval.
Do you know the adress of the appropriate department, organisation?
Thank you in advance

Enclosed to this EMAIL is prA14 of the standard.
My understanding is:
- the standard EN61000-3-2 will be valid 1.Januar.2001
- the amendment A14, which is very important will be valid highly
probably 1. July.2001
- test houses might apply the new coming A14 for the time between
1.January.2001 an
rtion (paragraph 36.201.2.1).
Is this still correct today? Are there plans to incorporate this
requirement in the future?
