No, I haven't read the book, but maybe will. One of my other hobbies
beside electronics etc. is linguistics...

Gene, no worry, things aren't so bad. You just specified a little too
many http's and www's in your URL. It works now, I saw your machinery.
Looks much more tidy than my shop and what's in it. But I haven't done
much work there last year, all around. Had to get used to being
retired... I think

How is 5i23 mounted? I do not see that it is fixed anywhere.
In that picture it is just sat there in the PCI connectors. Since then
I have added a bracket from the mounting holes onto the aluminium
mounting plate.

I've solved my kins-compile problem. I just had to uninstall emc2 and
install emc2-sim, also if i've compiled my emc2-dev as simulator.
Now I have another problem. I'm far from my machine pc, so i've copied
my setup and try to run that as sim, to work on my Gladevcp panel. I
i've installed emc2
in my setup i use a joystick, and i load that using hidconfig/hidcomp.
if i run hidconfig it can see the joystick, so i think permissions are
right. but
when i run my machine i have this error:

if i try to run my setup with hidcomp, but without gladevcp i have two cases:
-it's ok if it's the first thing i do after turning on the machine.
ehm... it must be something stupid with Virtualbox memory i think..
I just started again Vbox without 3Dsupport, neither VT-x or any kind of
acceleration.
Then first time run the full machine and it runs ok!!
closed the window, then re-run the same machine and it gives me error...
i'm starting
I looks like a timing issue. Gladevcp needs pins from hidcomp, but hidcomp
hasn't initialised completely yet. Have you tried the -W (or -Wn) option
with hidcomp?
See the man page for loadusr.
