I vaguely recall the subject coming up in one of the Propeller columns in
""Nuts'nVolts"" Magazine. You may want to search there.

When we were refurbishing the B-17 I was often amazed with the thought of
all those precision parts produced mainly by hand.
20,000 B-17s X 4 engines X 18 pistons + spares = one huge chunk of machine
time. A person could wear out several pairs of boots standing in front of a
lathe for that long

Can anyone recommend a group that covers general Linux discussions.
Distro specific is OK - Ubuntu, Debian, etc

In the trivia department - there is an interesting relationship between
Diesel, Cummins, Jacobs, and compression brakes ('Jake' brakes).

Big snip!
They still have South Bend stuff - lathes and mills - in the Grizzly
catalog. They did, however, seem to have discontinued offering the 9A.

I don't know if this has been mentioned previously in this thread (If it has
AIA) but some PC power supplies have safety ground and DC return connected
together and some don't. -here in the US that is. UK floats I believe.

Whatever you use, beware of reflections from the sides of the slots
themselves. i.e. The surface of the disk may not be the only reflection
problem. Will lampblack with a coat of clear flat Krylon work, or just flat

This is getting complicated.
Some things I have to add:
1. When you get a newly haired bow (without rosin) it slicks back and forth
across the strings without much effect.
2. I looked at 5 different bows under the microscope. All were rosined.

I cut a lot of 6061and 7075 dry, but for finish cuts I use a little A9. Most
of the parts I make are small. I get a mirror finish with a light final cut

Lots of digital radios these days. Most tuning arrangements use encoders.
Many stereos and car radios use encoders for rotating knob features (tuning,
volume, balance, fade, mode, etc.) since many of the functions are
controlled by digital and not analog inputs now.
