I would suggest trying to add noapic to your start. I believe you would
access the line by hitting F6 before you start trying to run from cd. If
that is the case you would just add it to the end of the line that comes up.

downloaded CD checksum OK on both of two different downloads/ CDs.
When booting from CD:
all options except boot from first hard disk result in:
